Youth football teams ready for Week 2 Playoffs

Body – The first week of playoffs for Power 5 Sports League are in the books and the Greenwood Rangers and Greenwood Outlaws have multiple teams advancing to the second rounds. For the Outlaws organization, two of the four teams won their playoff matches.

Rangers open district play this Friday against Monahans

Body – The Greenwood Rangers football team is off to a spectacular start and has done a full 180 from last season recording a 5-1 record through nondistrict competition. The most current victory was a 41-14 win over Lubbock Cooper Liberty on Oct. 4 in Lubbock.

Greenwood sweeps Pecos, Fort Stockton

Body - No. 12-ranked Greenwood went on the road last week to beat Pecos and returned home over the weekend to crush Fort Stock to stay unbeaten in District 3-4A and hold sole possession of first place.

Body –The Greenwood Outlaws football team finished up the second half of P5SL and ended the regular season last weekend. The Outlaws had a good Week 4 winning three of their four games against the Pecos Eagles.

Greenwood improves to 5-1, ready for district

Body – Greenwood wrapped up the non-district season in exciting fashion destroying Lubbock-Cooper Liberty 41-14, Friday night at Pirate Stadium. The Raner’s defense was slapped in the face early when Liberty broke off an 89-yard touchdown run for an early 7-0 lead.

Rangers pluck Eagles, win 56-29

Body GREENWOOD Greenwood exploded for 545 yards of total offense and 56 points to beat Pecos 56-29 in a non-district football game at J.M. King Memorial Stadium.

Junior high Rangers run at Spring Creek Invitational

Body MERTZON – The Greenwood Junior High cross country teams hit the road early last week to compete at the Spring Creek Invitational in Mertzon. The seventh grade Rangerettes dominated the team competition taking first place with 36 points.
