LENORAH - Bobby Dwain Graves, 81 of Lenorah, died Apr. 27, 2024. The family received friends Apri. 29, at Gilbreath Funeral Home. Funeral services were Apr. 30, at Tarzan Baptist Church. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

STANTON - Jose Manuel Morales, 59, died Apr. 4, 2024. He was born June 9, 1964, to Jose Marcial Morales and Gloria Almanza Morales in Coahuila, MX. He was a loving son, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed visiting family in Mexico, watching WWE Wrestling, his favorite tv shows Little House on the Prairie and Two and a Half Men, and he was a fan of Texas Tech. Above all his greatest joy in life was being with his grandchildren, whether it be just a visit or watching them play sports, Jose was there for them.

MIDLAND - Eric Wayne Looney, 87 of Midland, died on Oct. 29, 2023. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Nov. 4, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on Apr. 29, 1936, in Santo. Coach, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Stephenville High School in 1954. An outstanding athlete, he is a member of the Stephenville Yellowjacket Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended Tarleton Junior College, playing both basketball and baseball while there. He also played basketball at McMurry College, from where he graduated in 1958.

Elizabeth Creech Shoemaker

STANTON - Elizabeth Creech Shoemaker was born on Aug. 24, 1931, to Robert Bryan and Alice Creech. She married L.R. Shoemaker on Dec. 13, 1949 in Stanton, where they raised their family out at the family farm. She died Nov. 24, 2022. She attended grade school at the McClintock School on the McClintock Ranch in Midland County and at the Garden City school in Garden City. She graduated high school from the Courtney School in Martin County. She really enjoyed her class reunions with her other Courtney classmates.

Janie Barnes

GRANBURY - She Belle Morgette Barnes was born on July 20, 1929, in Kermit, to Charles and Celia Morgette and died Aug. 21, at the age of 93 in Granbury. She graduated from McMurry University and received her teaching certificate from Sul Ross University. She married her beloved Russell (Rusty) Barnes on July 15, 1950 in Lovington, NM. They were happily married until Russell's death in 1994.
