The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department served hundreds of people during its annual Fourth of July pancake breakfast, a tradition held each year to thank the community for its support. Children climbed aboard the fire trucks, leaving behind a few sticky syrup fingerprints, before firefighters responded to 24 fire calls from July 4 into the early hours of Sunday. While firefighters spent Saturday morning serving breakfast to hundreds of Greenwood residents, they spent that evening responding to about two dozen grass fires caused by fireworks.
