Why We Need A Savior
We have all heard the story of Adam and Eve, maybe not the right concept. “God created man in His Own image, in the image of God created he them; male and female. Then God blessed them” [Gen.1:27-28a].
After that God said He gave them everything. Yes, God Created mankind to live with Him eternally. God created Hell for the devil and the fallen angels that rebelled against Him in heaven. Because mankind also rebelled against God when Adam and Eve ate of the fruit that God had told them not to, it is written later, that Hell had to be enlarged. [Read Is.5:1114. Really, all of Ch. 5].
“Wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leads to destruction, many there be which go in”[Matt. 7:13]. After Adam, many chose to resist God.
At the timeAdam and Eve rebelled against God by eating of the tree of knowledge, He put them out of the Garden of Eden. If He had, at that time, allowed them to eat of the tree of Life, they would have lived forever on earth. Sin and rebellion would have been established forever. God sent Moses to write the “Ten Commandments” knowing that man could not live by them in the flesh. However He knew He would have to prove that to mankind by letting them try.
There is no forgiveness of sin without the shedding of Blood. The first blood shed was when God killed an animal to get the skin to cover Adam and eve’s nakedness. Mankind had to live by bringing sacrifices to be killed and to shed blood that could only covered or sins, not do away with them. After mankind could clearly see he could not be forgiven or saved on his own strength, God sent a Savior. Jesus came to teach us right from wrong how to live victorious here on earth.
He gave us the message of how to live with Him for all eternity. He paid the price for every torment, hurt, rejection, sickness, disease, infirmity and malfunction that were even possible, so we could go to heaven.
Then gave us the freedom of choice to accept what He did for us or reject it. The difference between what seems like a bad Christian and a basically good man of this world, is Jesus. The Blood of Jesus would wash sins away. God would not remember them. That is only after Mankind has accepted what Jesus Paid for, and is born again of the spirit of God.
Yes to be honest there are some who go to church every Sunday who are not really born again. They have the head knowledge from all the teaching but not the heart knowledge and they won’t make it unless they repent and ask Jesus to come into their heart and live through them.
However there are some who are basically really good moral people who will split hell wide open, simply because they did not receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior and put Him first in their life. You see, I was one of those.
I went to church all my life and knew all the Bible stories and when anyone asked me if I was a Christian I assured them I was. I was basically a pretty good person. Yet if I had died, I would have gone to hell. Everyone needs a Savior if we want to go to heaven. Jesus said “My sheep hear my voice.” That is the way He communicates with us. When we invite Him into our heart, He begins to give us nudges to do things different. He speaks to our heart to quit doing certain things. He does not leave us the same. After a while we recognize His voice and how different it is from the devils. We grow into obedience.
If you do not have a personal relationship with Him, if you don’t hear His voice, you may want to. Today ask Him to forgive you for taking Him for granted, to forgive your sins and come into your heart and live through you. Good People and the bad, “Everyone needs a Savior”
