Nearly 20% of deaths on Texas roadways are pedestrians, experts say
GREENWOOD - A pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on FM 307 on Aug. 15, 2022, was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Two days later she was pronounced dead by Dr. Rani Alayuvi.
The preliminary investigation showed at 9:47 p.m., eight miles east of Midland on FM 307, Gina Marie Daugherty, 48 of Midland, was walking east in the middle of FM 307.
A 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 with trailer driven by Joel Aguilar Valenzuela, 40 of Midland, was also traveling east on FM 307.
It was at this time the driver’s side mirror of Valenzuela’s vehicle struck Daugherty causing the severe injuries. Valenzuela was not injured in the accident.
