Pfluger hosts Town Hall, releases statement on killing

STANTON - Rep. August Pfluger made a stop in Stanton on Monday for a Town Hall meeting at the Senior Center.

He talked about his views on energy, the economy, inflation, the border crisis, and the environment.

His main talking point during the Town Hall was energy and what it means to Martin County.

He talked about his “Midland over Moscow Act” which would force the Biden administration to counter Russia and strengthen the US energy security.

On the economy he said, “It’s almost unbelievable that on the day a recession is officially declared, Washington Democrats resurrect Build Back Better – a plan to raise taxes, pay off green interest groups, and throw more taxpayer dollars at social spending programs. Democrats claim they are for the poor and working class, but It’s clear the Democrat way is hurting these groups the most. We can lower costs and put an end to crippling price hikes by unleashing American energy producers, return to the Trump-era economic policies that spurred record growth, and put an end to the Democrat party’s tax-and-spend policies once and for all.”

Following the Town Hall, Pfluger released a statement as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Member after the United States government killed Ayman al Zawahiri, the current leader of al Qaeda.

“As a fighter pilot who spent years fighting terrorists abroad, I am extremely proud of the U.S. intelligence and military professionals for taking out the Leader of Al Qaeda in Kabul. Unfortunately, the attack confirms that Al Qaeda is again operating freely in Afghanistan following President Biden’s tragic withdrawal. The resurgence of terrorists abroad is even more dangerous for our homeland given at least 55 known or suspected terrorists have crossed our border this fiscal year alone. We cannot be too vigilant when it comes to the safety of American citizens.”
