WEST TEXAS Wintery weather conditions are expected for the Greenwood area, with a strong cold front moving through the region Thursday night that will include chances for rain and snow, reports the National Weather Service.
As the cold front moves in Thursday night, multiple rounds of precipitation with wintery conditions are possible, the report said. Overnight forecasts will include freezing rain Friday through Sunday night, then switch back to rain during the day.
Below temperature warnings are especially noted for the area west of the Pecos River, the report said.
The report also stated that an exact accumulation of snow would be difficult to determine because of the fluctuation in ambient temperature and the higher ground temperature.
The report also stated that the exact location of the storm is difficult to pinpoint.
As a precaution, crews have already been making the round this week treating Interstate 20 with a brine solution to minimize potential accidents from the freezing weather.
