Memorial jackpot set for Aug. 27

ODESSA - The Ryder Wayne Gass Memorial Jackpot is set to take place Aug. 27 at the Ector County Fairgrounds. Showmanship - Starts promptly at 9 a.m. There will be 3 divisions: based on grade for the upcoming school year. Junior- 3rd-5th grades, Intermediate-6th-8th grades, Senior- 9th-12th. Cost is $10 at the gate. Winner of each division takes all the money collected for that division. There will not host a Pee Wee Showmanship Contest. General - Show breed format will be English, American, and Exotic. There will not be Progress and Prospect divisions. Steers will be broken by weight and divided as equally as possible into classes. -Weight Cards are due at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 27. Weigh and classify your own cattle. There will be no way back. This is a memorial show and participants are expected to be honest in respect of Ryder and his family.

-Show will start as soon as possible after the Senior Showmanship Division.

-A single entry fee of $70 gives entry into both Ring A and Ring B.

-Ring B will start approximately 30 minutes after the start of Ring A.

-BLOW AND SHOW ONLY—No paint or adhesive is allowed.

-Late entry fee- Early entries must be post marked by Aug. 19. A late entry fee of $30 per head (CASH or CHECK, no credit cards) will be accepted at the show office on Aug. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. and again the morning of the show until 8:30 a.m.

-NO PORT A COOL’S ALLOWED! You are allowed to bring fans.

-All generators must be placed outside of the barn.

-All vehicles and trailers must be parked in the parking lots south of the fenced area of the Permian Basin Fairgrounds with exception of those that will have cattle tied to them. We have a limited amount of grass area where outside stalling will be allowed. It is located on the old coliseum drive, west of the Outback Arena. Do not block Gate 1.

-All arrivals will be through Gate 1 on the south side of the fairgrounds.

-Space is limited inside the stall barn so we need everyone’s cooperation. Stalling is first come, first serve starting at Noon, Aug. 26. You are limited to 1 stall per steer that you show up with, not what you paid to enter.

-Wash racks are available in Barns C and D. -Please clean up your stall area as much as possible before departing. Show management and volunteers must clean up the stall area upon conclusion of the show in order for it to be ready for the Permian Basin Fair which soon follows our show.

-All bib tag numbers must be on the front of the exhibitor’s shirt. This allows announcers to correctly recognize exhibitors and match exhibitors with awards.

-Exhibitors must be between the ages of 8 and 19 and enrolled in the public or private school in the State of Texas.

-Bring your own shavings, none will be provided or sold by the show.

-The decisions of the judges are final. The judge’s decision cannot be protested.

-Ryder Wayne Gass Memorial Steer Show officials reserve the right to interpret all rule and regulations, arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions, and differences in regard to or arising out of or connected with the Ryder Wayne Gass Memorial Steer Show, and the right to amend or add to these rules as it is determined necessary.

-Ryder Wayne Gass Memorial Steer Show officials, the Permian Basin Fair and its officials, and Ector County are not responsible for any loss, injury, or damage. Exhibitors, families, and all others involved, or in attendance assume an inherent risk of attending and exhibiting in a livestock show.

Premiums and Awards: Premiums and awards will be given based upon entry numbers and sponsorships.
