Greenwood battled Seminole on the diamonds

- Greenwood’s softball and baseball teams battled Seminole this week.

Sydney Castillo struck out 11 batters over seven innings to help Greenwood win 3-2 over Seminole during Friday’s District 3-4A game at the Greenwood softball field.

Castillo allowed only two runs on four hits and three walks.

Castillo helped her caused by going 1-for-2 with a home run, two RBI and a walk.

Greenwood’s Addison Flores went 2-for-3 with a run scored, a stolen base and a steal and Tiana Wilson was 1-for-2 with an RBI, a run scored, a steal and a walk.

The Rangerettes improved to 2-2 in District 3-4A play and will visit Fort Stockton at 5 p.m. Friday.

In the Ragner’s baseball game, Seminole scored three runs in the first inning and three runs in the second to jump out to a 6-0 lead and hold on to beat Greenwood during Tuesday’s District 3-4A game at the Greenwood baseball field.

Rangers reliever Toby Delk pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings of one-hit ball after the Indians scored their early runs.

Zac Rybolt, Jaxon Ramos, Johnny Mason and Graeson Register all scored runs for Greenwood in the bottom of the second inning.

The Rangers managed only three hits.

Greenwood (9-13, 0-3) will look for a District 3-4A win when it visits Seminole (11-7-1, 3-0) at 7 p.m. Friday.
