GREENWOOD William Bryan Sledge, better known as Bryan, or Coach Sledge, Age 49, of Midland, passed away on Oct. 22, 2024. A visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 30, at Nalley -Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Oct. 31, at Mid-Cities Church, 8700 TX 191 in Midland. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Park, 6900 US-87 in Big Spring.
He was born on Apr. 30, 1975, in Big Spring, to Tammy Davidson and William (Bill) W. Sledge III.
He was all about his girls – wife Imiley and daughter Suri. He was very involved in everything these two did. He traveled with Suri for Club Volleyball and watched all her games at Midland Classical Academy. Bryan loved to serve the MCA volleyball team by working the position of “Home Guard” at Suri’s games. When he was not at Club Volleyball, he went to every single Barrel Race and Rodeo to see his wife, Imiley, compete. He loved grooming the horses, and recording Imiley’s runs, always ready to video every single run. Bryan also loved being on his tractor – he was always on it and loved working the ground for the barrel races. He even posed as “The Grinch” one year, in a family Christmas photo on the tractor with his girls.
In addition to all this, earlier in his career, he coached numerous sports for Midland High School.
He also loved his niece and nephew – twins! And the twins’ little baby brother! He loved to take the twins in the “hooptie” and sing songs from the movie “Frozen!” “Let It Go” was the all-time favorite!
He was also a dog lover, and he and his wife Imiley bought a dog together. He named it Brandon and put it in a baby carrier to tote around with him at the barrel races. Three of his NINE dogs - Brandon, Wolf and Maya - especially loved to ride around with him in his tractor.
He also loved his Donkeys, and sometimes the Llama! There was never a dull moment on the “Barkin’ Ranch”.
All this to say, Bryan loved his family, his animals and life! He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Imiley McKay Sledge, and his daughter Suri Alyse Sledge. He is also survived by his father William (Bill) W. Sledge III and stepmother Vickie Sledge.
He is preceded in death by his mother Tammy Davidson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fix West Texas from where Bryan adopted several cats and dogs.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
