- The Rangers have clinched a playoff berth but are still hoping for a District title with two game remaining.
Last Thursday, Greenwood had a victory slip through its fingers when Andrews battled back from a 45-43 deficit to beat Greenwood 58-53.
Greenwood’s Conrad Morris led all scorers with 19 points, Shawn Kelly had 15, Tatum Pierce scored 13 and Caden Underwood provided six.
The following night, Greenwood hosted district leader Seminole.
The No. 23-ranked Indians were hoping to sweep Greenwood but the Rangers had other plans.
After losing to the Indians by one point in the first round of district action, Greenwood bounced the Indians by one point, 44-43, giving Seminole its first district loss.
Greenwood’s Tatum Pierce scored a team-high 16 points, Conrad Morris chipped in with 15 and Caden Underwood scored seven.
Then on Tuesday Greenwood destroyed Pecos.
The Rangers could have went scoreless in the second half and still won the game by eight points.
But Greenwood played very well in the final two quarters beating Pecas 82-40.
Conrad Morris paced the Rangers with 15 points, Tatum Pierce had 14, Shawn Kelly scored 13, Ty Presley had 10 and Jovan Lopez registered eight.
Greenwood (22-9, 6-2) hosts Fort Stockton at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The Rangers wrap up district play next Tuesday with a road game at Monahans at 7:30 p.m.
