Several arrested last month in neighboring Stanton

Johnson Greenwood Kindergarten students enjoyed an exciting visit from Wendy Rodrigue with the Life and Legacy Foundation Art Tour. Wendy is the former wife of world renown artist, George Rodrigue. – Despite law enforcement’s best efforts to quell crime, pedophiles and criminals continue to exist and cause havoc on innocent victims. The following were arrested in February for their alleged crimes.

One of the most recent and most disturbing arrests came on Feb. 24 when Martin County Sheriff’s deputies picked up Gary Allen Johnson, 44 of Stanton, for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child a First-Degree Felony. A bond was set in the amount of $100k.

In the evening hours of Feb. the Martin County Sheriff’s Office received a report involving a claim of sexual assault. Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS) were also notified.

An investigation began and yielded enough probable cause for an arrest warrant to be issued on the alleged actor, Gary Johnson. This investigation is still ongoing.

In general, Sections 22.011 and 22.021 of the Texas Penal Code provides the range of punishment. Section 22.011 is entitled 'Sexual Assault'. Subsection (c)(1) defines 'child' as a person 'younger than 17 years of age.'

An individual adjudged guilty of a felony of the first degree shall be punished by imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for life or for any term of not more than 99 years or less than 5 years. In addition to imprisonment, an individual adjudged guilty of a felony of the first degree may be punished by a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Other recent arrests include: Feb. 23 – Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jonathan Garcia Aguirre, 30 of Stanton, for Probation Revocation; Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm. His bond was set for $20,000.

Feb. 25 – Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers brought in DaJanee Lashae Johnson, 25 of , on two charges: Possession of Marijuana; Failure to Identify Fugitive Intent to give False Information.

Feb. 18 - Billy Alvarado, 44 of Lamesa, and Anthony Lara, 26 of Lamesa, were brought to jail on hold for Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.

Feb. 12 - Austin Lane Turner, 28 of Andrews, and Jermiah Salgado of Stanton, were picked up by Stanton Police officers and each was charged with Possession Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B Less Than 1 Gram. Both received a $15,000 bond.

Feb. 6 - Julian Hughes, 28 of Lubbock, was arrested by Martin County Deputies for Failure to Identify Giving False/ Fictitious Information. His bond was set at $7,500.

Feb. 6 - Immanuel Diego Lozano, 20 of Stanton, was hauled to jail by Stanton Police officers for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. Bond was set at $15,000.
