GREENWOOD The Rangerette Volleyball program had a great weekend in Monahans with the Freshman winning second in the Silver Bracket, the Junior Varsity earning consolation in the Silver Bracket and the Varsity won the championship in the Silver Bracket. The varsity finished 5-1 on their run to the title. Greenwood opened the tournament with a 26-24, 25-23 straight set win over Big Spring. Next up was Snyder which offered very little resistance as Greenwood rolled 25-16, 25-15. West Plains had an outstanding performance giving the Rangerettes their only loss of the weekend, 25--
Greenwood rebounded strong from its loss with a nice win over Big Spring, 25-- 17, 25-11. In the semifinals, Pecos was a formattable opponent taking the first set 25-22. Greenwood rallied to take the game winning the next two sets 25-17, 25-21. The Championship match was another come from behind performance with Odessa Compass Academy taking the first set 25-22 and Greenwood winning the next two 25-20, 25-23. Kate Crunk led the team in kills with 40 followed by Ashlyn Land with 30 and Kirklyn Smith with 28. Kaylee Underwood ended the weekend with 23 kills while Caili McDonlad registered 17 and Adison Savage had eight. Presley Watzl and Esmeraldo Pando pitched in with one kill each. Dominating the net was Underwood and Crunk with 14 and 10 blocks respectively. Land and McDonald added six blocks each while Savage, Smith, and Maggie King had three, one, and one respectively. Watzal registered 79 digs to lead the Rangerettes while Tate had 36 and Pando 35.
Smith had 18 digs and Avree Turnage and Madison Willis had 17 digs each. Also getting digs were Savage with nine, McKenna Templeton eight, McDonald eight, Underwood six, Morgan Beard two, Lang two, and King one. Pando and Willis racked up 60 and 40 assists respectively followed by Watzl with six, Beard five, and Underwood one. Earning aces were Watzl four, Tate three, Crunk three, Willis two, Turnage two, Templeton one, Beard one, Smith one, Pando one, and Underwood one.
Greenwood was back in action on Tuesday with a home opener against Levelland. It was a Rangerette sweep for all three teams.
In the varsity match, Greenwood fell behind early losing the first set 16-25.
Behind the ruckus home crowd, the Rangerettes built momentum and rattled off three straight sets winning the match 25-18, 25-17, 25-18.
Crunk dominated the net with 12 kills and six blocks and Underwood was solid with five kills and seven blocks and Lang chipped in with six kills and three block.
Turnage finished the game with five kills followed by Smith with four, McDonald two, and Tate one.
Maggie King had one block and Templeton recorded the only ace.
Watzl led the team in digs with 25 followed by Underwood with 10, Turnage nine, Pando six, Tate five, and Smith four. Crunk totaled three digs while Templeton, Savage, and Beard had two each and Willis, McDonald, and Land had one apiece.
The assist leader was Pando with 18. Beard had seven and Willis added three.
