GREENWOOD – The Greenwood Rangers split their final two District 3-4A basketball games finishing second in the district standings.
On Friday, the Rangers battled Fort Stockton and jumped out to a 24-13 halftime lead.
Second half action was dominated by Greenwood’s defense as the Panthers were only allowed five third quarter points.
Greenwood cruised in the fourth quarter to a 62-33 win.
Conrad Morris scored a game-high 21 points and Jovan Lopez added 14 points. Nine other players scored for the Rangers in the victory.
Then on Tuesday Greenwood was back in action against Monahans.
The Loboes built a slim lead over the course of the first three quarters. Then Greenwood’s offense went cold in the fourth quarter only scoring four points allowing Monahans to pull away with a 53-35 win.
Ty Presley led Greenwood in scoring with 13 points. Tatum Pierce had nine points and Shawn Kelly tossed in seven points.
The Rangers (23-10, 7-3) finished the season in second and will face Canyon West Plains in the bi-district round of the playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Frenship High School.
